Zakisha

Jamaican-Canadian artist Zakisha Brown conquered the world with her music quite unexpectedly. Undoubtedly, Canada was the girl's home country, but she was always interested in different cultures, including the Caribbean and Africa. Unlike many musicians, Zakisha Brown was not so fond of music as a child and did not even suspect that her future would be connected with it.

Around 2011, the girl gradually began to show increased interest in this art form. The opportunity to express her emotions and feelings through music seemed to her something incredible and almost magical. Although not professional, year after year she became more and more immersed in the world of music, which eventually led to the writing of her first songs. The girl's approach to choosing topics from the very beginning was quite simple. What impressed her or made her think became the central theme of the song. Interestingly, this approach persisted even after Zakisha began her professional career.

2018 was a special year for her because it was then that she finally decided to try to turn her hobby into a profession. The first such song was "Own", which already then showed great interest in African culture and its components. Although this song did not gain much popularity, it nevertheless brought the singer the necessary experience for the future.

Song "Went to Ghana", became one of the main hits of the artist and popularized her in several countries. Of course, the main theme of this song, as you can understand, was the long-awaited trip of Zakisha to Ghana. Even her parents were interested in this country, so for her, this was something more than just a trip. While there, she met many friendly people who further strengthened her love for the country. Of course, Zakisha simply could not ignore the culture. Colorful, rich, and most importantly spiritual, awakened in the singer something almost native. After this trip, Zakisha had no doubt that she wanted to share this experience with others, and she did it through the way she has the best - music. Despite the skepticism of some people, this idea turned out to be much better than suspected. It was thanks to "Went to Ghana" that the artist had fans on a completely different continent, and most importantly, this gave the opportunity for new collaborations that will be no less significant.

Next in line was a collaboration with Jeff Moes and L.N. Wyman in the song "Africa Home Again". The combination of different styles did its job and gave the listeners what they deserved. This mix of genres, dynamics, and of course voices gave all fans an unusual experience that only once again confirmed the talent of the young singer. After such two hits in a row, no one had any doubt that the next songs of Zakisha will be no less interesting and exciting.

Even then, Zakisha wanted to try something new, and create songs in which she will reveal those topics that have long aroused her great interest. The first of these songs was "Purpose". The singer moved away from the usual topic of culture for fans and turned her attention to the more global issues facing people. Hard times come to each of us periodically, but a song like "Purpose" makes it clear that what these times will pass, the main thing is not to give up. This song was the beginning of a new direction that inspired the artist to start creating a new album.

The single "The Shift" became symbolic in this regard. The central theme of the song is change in life, which is what Zakisha was doing at the time. The gradual change of musical performance gave the singer the opportunity to experiment not only on the lyrics but also on the sound, so almost all the songs released since 2021 can be called a new sound. The next song, "My Light", made it even more appealing. This song again had a strong connection with Ghana, where the music video was shot. Again a new theme and again a new sound. Such an incredible musical experience allowed her to approach the creation of singles for the upcoming album with more confidence.

"Solitude", released in 2022, became the first single to be included on the same album. This song has really become special in terms of the theme because it affects not only loneliness but also self-love. Only when we are comfortable alone with ourselves, other people will also be able to feel this comfort. The energy from this song alone is enough to understand that her upcoming album will be filled with songs that will be nice not only to listen to but also to comprehend. Of course, as of early 2022, Zakisha is still actively working on his album and continues to experiment with music and music videos. If you liked the previous songs of the artist, there is no doubt that this album will give you unforgettable emotions. At the same time, Zakisha continues to immerse himself more strongly in African culture, to learn their traditions, and of course to better understand people and their mentality. All this in total helps to continue to create and give their fans something new and exciting.
