The 131ers

If we try to delve into the history of the beginning of the group called The 131ers, we will see two dates. So, sometimes 2012 and sometimes 2015 are declared the moment of the group's creation.

The fact is that the group started as a duo consisting of two people. Ryan Davidson and Kaleb Davies, who met at high school Track & Field, where they studied, started playing together for the first time in 2012. For example, natives from Torrance, California, have played small performances at school events for several years, at times resorting to collaboration with other local musicians. After several collaborations, the duo turned into a quartet. Initially, when there were only two musicians, the sound of the group recalled folk first of all, after which, together with the transformation of the collective into a quartet, the group acquired its today's sound. So, since its final formation in 2015, and until now, the line-up of the band has been remaining unchanged, namely:
Kaleb Davies - guitarist and lead vocalist;
Ryan Dawson - drummer;
Chris Graue - bassist;
Greg Wilmot - guitarist.

The very first studio work of the group was an album called "The 131ers and Heartbreak". In fact, it was not a full-fledged studio album in the traditional sense. The extended play is more suitable for the description of this release. This EP included four songs, which were covers of Kanye West. For this reason, this release is often ignored when it comes to the first album of the group. The EP was released at the end of 2015. The first studio work in which songs written by musicians were used is the group's self-titled album, which the guys released a year later. The eponymous album was already a full-length studio album. This album, in turn, consisted of more than a dozen tracks. Although everything in the album screamed that it was composed by an aspiring band (for example, the album cover was just a photo of one of the band's local performances, and the album itself was recorded in a homemade studio at the house of one of the musicians), nevertheless, it was noticed by both critics and future fans and got quite good reviews.

Despite the release of the self-titled album, the group received its first real recognition a little later. The guys released another EP, which includes the group's most popular songs to this day, back in the same 2016. Leavin' included only four songs - one of the same name, Weekend, Strangers, and Too Close To You. The EP became quite successful, and Leavin 'began to hit the radio during the daytime. So, the group gave several major live performances to support their debut studio album in 2017. Besides live performances, the guys also spent time working on new material, as well as participating in several side projects. In fact, the single Face On was the only release of the year. This song has been recorded on the small Californian indie label Pot O 'Gold Records in Orange. A music video for this song will be recorded subsequently, which will be the first professional music video of the band. The single itself is still available for purchase both on the band's official website and on specialized music venues. Later, this song will appear on the band's next studio album songs list.

The bands' last studio release to date was "Nothing's As It Should Be", which was released in the summer of 2018. The album includes 11 records. It was recorded simultaneously at two venues: The Warehouse in Torrance and Pot O 'Gold Records in Orange, CA. So, this is a digital album that is available for download and streaming. Immediately after the release of the album, the band gave several gigs, mainly in their native California, but also visit neighboring states. The chain of concerts lasted exactly until the summer of 2019, after which the musicians left for an unofficial hiatus. The guys have not given a single concert or released anything until now. Well, we would like to hope that all the events of 2020 did not affect the team in any way, and after the pause ends, the guys will return with new releases and performances, continuing to delight us soon.
