Russell Taylor

Russell Taylor is an American pop and soul-jazz singer, songwriter, musician, as well as an actor. 

 

The audience first learned about him in 2013, when he was able to become the winner of the VH1’s show “You Oughta Know”. Back in 2000, Russel released the debut single “Fool for love” that managed to become one of the best in the UK singles chart. As an independent artist, Russell Taylor has shared the stage with many legendary artists, such as Patti LaBelle, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Isaac Hayes, and more. 

This talented guy, Russel Taylor, was born on July 2, 1980, in Philadelphia, the largest city of Pennsylvania, one of the US states. The artist grew up listening to his homeland’s soul music legends and dreaming to repeat their success. When he was 20 years old, Russell first gathered an audience as the featured vocalist on the song "Fool For Love" produced by The Basement Boys. His first single almost immediately got on the list of the best singles by the UK singles chart, reaching 54th position there. Being thrilled by their cooperation with the rising star Russel Taylor, The Basement Boys, an American house music production team, helped Russel to release the next singles such as “Last Dance” and “Holiday”. It was clear that Russel Taylor must continue to build his music career as a singer. Thus, the young man had decided to release his own studio albums in the soul-jazz & pop genres. 

Then Russell performed a lot on the East Coast soul music circuit: he gave little performances as a headliner as well as warming up established acts. Also, during 2003-2005 he recorded a number of songs before releasing his own album. Finally, Russell successfully released his first studio album “Somewhere in Between” in 2006 that consists of 16 amazing singles. Taylor made it endowed with the spirit of his whole life combining such music genres as soul, rock, gospel, R&B. This album showed Russell as a very talented songwriter. By the way, in 2008, his singles "All Said & Done" and "2b loved" were featured on the movie(“Dirty Laundry”) soundtrack. 

One by one, Russel Taylor continued releasing new singles, as well as studio albums. In 2010 he released the “Confessional” album recorded on the Indigo Blue Music label. Then, in 2013, the “War of Hearts” album was released. The final singer’s release was in 2017, the EP “Tin Man: The Blue”. For the fact, the single “War of Hearts” was featured on TV Shows Black Ink Crew, an American reality television series. This song of immense beauty was launched for sale as a CD, and very soon it had got a lot of positive reviews. By the words of Russel Taylor, this song has changed his life. The studio album “War of Hearts”(released in 2013) includes collaborations with Grammy award-winning producer Needlz, Tim Kvanosky of Tiny Hearts, and Salakida Kali. 

Currently, Russell Taylor continues his music career development. At the same time, he is the person he loves life for its variety of available amazing options. So, Russell never passes up opportunities to travel to countries with interesting culture and rich history, or read a nice book. Russell Taylor has already performed on the stages in London, Amsterdam, and Paris as well as famed stateside venues from The Mint and The Roxy in Los Angeles to SOB’s and Joe’s Pub in New York. Having incredible vocal skills, Russell always creates new singles being fully inspired by this. 

 

His newest track titled “Wake up” was released in September 2020. It is the second song after “Come Morning” that was released this year. Being under a great impression of the 2020’ pandemic, the artist has created these shrill and singles with deep meaning.
