Rihanna

A future star with Barbados, Irish and African roots was born in the usual family-her father was an inspector and her mother- a retired accountant. Rihanna has 2 younger brothers and 2 sisters from the father's side. The girl was raised under the influence of reggae music and started to sing at the tender age of 7.

She had quite a hard childhood as far as her father was addicted to drugs, alcohol and hemp. Unfortunately, her parents divorced when she was a teenager, though her father has still been a part of her life. She attended Charles F. Broome Memorial School in Barbados and then - Combermere School, where she formed a musical trio with her classmates. She was also a cadet in a military training program taught to her by the Barbados military. Initially, she wanted to finish high school but then decided to give up this idea because she was busy with her music path and career.

In 2003 Rihanna got acquainted with an American producer Evan Rogers and then, accompanied by her friends from their trio, approached him in the hotel he was staying in. Rogers admitted Rihanna’s talent from the first seconds of her performance. Being really impressed, Rogers invited young lady to record in the New York studio.

At the age of 16, she recorded a demo tape, consisting of “Last Time”, a cover version of Whitney Houston’s song “For the Love of You” and her hit song “Ron de Replay”.

Sending the tape to different recording studios lead her to sign a contract with Def Jam label. This was the time she moved to the US, came to live with Rogers and his wife and chose a nickname - her music career started to develop dramatically.

Music is not the only field of Rihanna’s interests. She also has her own cosmetics brand “Fenty Beauty”, “Fenty Skin” and a fashion house.
Rihanna is one of the most open to charity stars: she created “Believe Foundation”, she is an ambassador of “Cartier Love Charity Bracelets”, she performed several free charity concerts and founded the “Clara Lionel Foundation”.
