Ezeh Chisom Faith was born on November 10, 1994, in Anambra State, Nigeria.
He spent his childhood in Lagos and Abuja, where received his first education. Somewhere in that period of time, the young man has already begun to show interest in music. This is not surprising, because African culture is full of love for a variety of genres, which are not only firmly rooted in the traditions themselves but are still being created. It is unlikely that then the young Rexxie suspected that one day he would set a new musical direction.
As he studied, his interest in music became more and more apparent. Rexxie began to master the keys and was even able to join the church choir. Over time, he began to understand that such a hobby for him could become something much more. While studying at Yaba College of Technology and Tai Solarin University, where he earned a degree in Computer Science, his passion for music completely absorbed all of Rexxie's attention. At that time he was already releasing some remixes of existing songs. Although this did not give the young artist any popularity, such an experience became extremely important, because it allowed him to train and feel the sound in a whole new way. Probably that's when Rexxie realized that he wanted to try himself as a music producer.
Of course, breaking into the music business as a producer is extremely difficult. This requires not only to participate in the creation of various songs but also to communicate with a huge number of people to eventually start making new acquaintances that will make the artist one step closer to the dream. With this mindset, Rexxie began to help mostly novice artists with song production. This allowed Rexxie to dive into the music in more detail and even gradually add his own elements to the song.
After such training, Rexxie knew it was time to move on to something bigger. It's for this reason that he began trying to contact well-known artists, including rapper CDQ. Although this attempt did not seem successful, life brought him another surprise because after a short time he met a fairly new artist Zlatan Ibile. Together they began their collaboration which in the future will make them both famous throughout Africa.
The result of their first work was the song "Jogor", in which Zlatan featured rappers such as Naira Marley and Lil Kesh. This song definitely became one of the main breakthroughs for the artist, which in turn raised the popularity of Rexxie himself. This success opened up an opportunity for him to work with other equally talented performers. Of course, Zlatan remained with them, with whom they work to this day. At this time, Rexxie has gained even more opportunities to hone their skills on a professional level. This could be seen easily in the songs he produced.
One of the most notable in his career was "Able God" by Chinko Ekun feat. Lil Kesh and Zlatan Ibile. To date, the music video for this song has more than 6 million views on YouTube and millions more plays on various music platforms. The crazy energy of the song combined with the styles of three different artists made it a continental hit. After such success, almost all the participants of this song had the maximum opportunity in the industry, including Rexxie.
The most groundbreaking year for both Rexxie and Zlatan was 2018, as it was then that the single “Zanku” was released. The popularity of this hit is hard to overestimate. It began to appear almost everywhere because the dance that accompanied this music quickly spread across the continent and even beyond. Social networks just exploded with videos of people filming themselves performing this dance under "Zanku". From that moment on, all available opportunities in show business opened up for Rexxie. If before he tried to offer his services to celebrities, now he is being approached himself.
Back in 2019, Rexxie decided to try himself as a performer and even started working on his own EP. Work on "AfroStreet The EP" lasted almost a year because he wanted his first songs to show that he can prove himself as a good performer. His release was quite successful, which prompted him to start work on his debut album called "A True Champion". Rexxie spent a whole year gathering a dozen talented performers. Sarkodie, Oxlade, Asake, Zlatan, Buju, DaVido, Midas the Jagaban, and many other talents took part in this album. The album managed to show all the versatility of the artist, which in turn attracted even more attention. To this day, he continues to actively release new singles, most of which are made in collaboration with other artists. His hits such as "VIP" and "Hasta La Vista", which he performs with Sarkodie and Zlatan, were especially memorable to the public, as the collaboration between the legend of the Ghanaian rap scene and one of Nigeria's top hitmakers simply cannot disappoint.
Despite its success today, Rexxie continues to hone musical talent, so there is no doubt that in the near future we will have many new hits that are sure to appeal to millions of people.
In 2020 and 2021, Rexxie won the Best Producer of the Year Award at the City People Entertainment Awards and the Soundcity MVP Awards for his contributions to music. In addition, we should not forget about the Net Honors in the nominations for Most Played Street Hop Song and Most Played Hip Hop Song.
Despite the long and difficult journey, Rexy was able to fulfill his school dream and turn his main passion into a profession. His life proves once again that if you really have a dream, you must go to it confidently despite the obstacles. Of course, there will be many falls along the way, but it is important to remember that after each fall you need to get up and move on. This is what made Ezeh Chisom into one of Nigeria's best producers by the name Rexxie.
