Justice Amoah, now better known as the afrobeat and hiplife artiste Patapaa, was born in the small town of Agona Swedru in Ghana.
The exact age and, accordingly, the date of birth of the performer is unknown because he tries to keep his personal life away from people. For this reason, details from his childhood have been covered only by people who know him.
Patapaa was the first child in the family. He currently has two more siblings. As a child, Patapaa was already beginning to show his artistry, although it was not possible to apply it somewhere at that time. There were many reasons for this. Both economic and external factors are influenced here. His family was not wealthy, so he had to help her by working and earning from an early age.
Growing up, the guy began to show even more actively his artistic abilities while not leaving work. At the same time, Patapaa became interested in music, namely such genres as Hiplife and Afrobeat. Even with almost no resources, he began to create his own songs. The first few songs he released from 2015 gained no popularity and almost forced him to give up and return to his previous work. An acquaintance who saw the guy's potential persuaded him not to give up and continue doing what he liked. A year later, his life will change forever.
In 2017, Patapaa decided to experiment with a genuinely unusual song that will be a mix of 2 of his favorite genres, namely Hiplife and Afrobeat. The originality did not end there. Speedy tempo, unusual instrumental accompaniment, crazy music video, and unique vocals brought the song "One Corner" just incredibly crazy popularity. After this song, Patapaa officially entered the professional music business and firmly established himself there.
The song gained its maximum popularity in 2017-2018, and as of the end of the summer of 2021, "One Corner" feat. Ras Cann & Mr Loyalty has already garnered 1.5 million views on YouTube, which is just a fantastic result. As already mentioned, this song began his professional career, and with great success, because thanks to it, he even received his first musical nominations. At the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2018, "One Corner" was nominated in the Most Popular Song of the Year category.
In 2018, his career began to develop very rapidly, which allowed him to collaborate with many musicians and artists. One of the first such artists was Bee Tee, and one of the first songs was "Aye Goal". After that, the song "Kitchen Stool" feat. Shi Wayne, Osahene Pablo. After a while, Patapaa could already be heard with Vyper and Sticker Gh in the song "KumcHacha". In total, in 2018, Patapaa released more than 15 tracks with various artists, such as Medikal, Esi Bornbhard, Abibiw, Bee Tee, Nicholas Melody, Sista Afia, DJ Binkz, Gojit, and others.
Sometime around this time, another important event occurred in his life. While in Europe, Patapaa met a girl with whom he immediately fell in love. Although Liha Miller did not initially show much desire to meet the artist, she agreed at the request of her friend. She was pleasantly surprised by Patapaa because he turned out to be a very interesting interlocutor and a very positive person, with whom it was nice to be. Despite the still substantial difference in culture, they still decided to start dating.
The Patapaa song that opened 2019 was "Enemies" feat. Article Wan. Although it did not gain widespread popularity, it still received positive reviews from fans of the Hiplife genre. The next song, namely "My Destiny" feat. Guy Cemetery did what the previous one failed. This entertaining and dynamic song with a music video that only reinforces these emotions has become one of the most famous artists' careers. As of 2021, this music video has already received more than 475,000 views on YouTube.
Slightly less successful was the song "Mene Woara" feat. Vyper, however, has become popular, especially in Ghana. Probably 2019 brought the most significant changes in the artist's career, except for 2017. His style began to acquire the characteristics by which we can recognize him today. Cheerful, driving, which is important traditionally African and most importantly made with love for the fans. Listening to these songs is very easy to feel.
In the same 2019, Patapaa finally released his first full-length album called "Pa2Pa Scopatumana". It includes not only a few new songs but also previously released, such as "One Corner", "Mene Woara", and others. Given that this is his first album, the success was quite noticeable, especially in Ghana and Nigeria. It is in these countries that Patapaa songs are heard the most today.
2020 has been one of the most challenging years in a long time for people around the world. Thousands of businesses have been hit by an unexpected pandemic. Of course, it dealt a serious blow to the music industry, as artists lost the opportunity to perform live and make money on it. Patapaa did not stop, and in 2020 he released seven songs. During this year, the artist managed to work with such artists as Akwaboah, Gojit. Ay Poyoo, Bow Tie, Taboo, Buda, and Phel.
The end of 2020 - the beginning of 2021 for Patapaa was another important event because he decided to marry the same girl from Europe. Despite the skepticism of this relationship from some people, soon everyone realized that, in fact, the two really love each other and no cultural barriers prevented them. Their sincere attitude to each other can be easily noticed in any interview they often conduct together.
The first song from Patapaa, released in 2021, surprised many as he performed "Madi" with his wife, now called Queen Peezy. Among the songs that have been released recently, it has gained the most popularity. In just seven months, the music video for this song has already garnered more than 290,000 views on YouTube, and that number is constantly growing. In addition to it, three more songs were released in 2021, namely "Otetafo Reloaded", "Sika Wo Borlar So" feat. King Paluta and Ypee, and "Haters (The Journey Of Life)" feat. Wendy Shay and Twicy.
Patapaa is currently active in music, making new collaborations, developing in other fields, and enjoying family life. As long as people are in the mood to listen to Patapaa's songs, he will continue to do so and delight his Hiplife fans with hits.
