Mermaed

Mermaed is a rock band that includes Arielle Ackford and Jacob Evergreen. Since childhood, both Jacob and Ariel showed great interest in music, although perhaps in its various forms. 

Ariel was more interested in the vocal side, and Jacob was more interested in music. However, despite this, they both loved the same style of music - rock. In the early 2000s, classic rock, as it was known over the years, began to take on a new form and became something of a subgenre called alternative rock. Although such rock left all its main aspects, namely drive, almost aggressive music, open and obscene lyrics, and incredibly inflammatory energy, there were also differences. Alternative rock allows you to combine those genres that were not present in a typical year. The lyrics began to change, and it was only a matter of time before alternative rock took on a different look. Both Arielle and Jacob fell in love with such rock. 

The creation of the group took place in 2017. It was created directly by Arielle, who became a vocalist, and Jacob, who took the role of guitarist. 

Debuted the band with their single "Idiot,” which, despite the fact that this was their first full-fledged song, was able to gain great local popularity. 

The song seems to have been created for live performances. The drive, filled with the young spirit and energy of alternative rock music of the first half of 2010, combined into a crazy mix of emotions. It was not surprising that this song was picked up so quickly. The song became popular in Los Angeles (where the band was founded), and after a short time, it was played on various radio stations. When the band started giving live performances, then everyone realized that they were facing a band that was close to great success. 

The career was launched successfully, and Mermaed was not going to lag behind. After a short time, their second single, "Honest", was released, which carried an entirely new message to the audience. If "Idiot" was just an energetic song about relationships and self-realization, "Honest" has become a bit of a revelation, which gives a more detailed look at the industry, its complexity, and the problems that the artist may face. Although the song did not become a more popular hit than "The Idiot", it clearly showed that Mermaed not only makes alternative rock for the sake of drive but also brings to the public important elements that some would recognize from personal experience. 

The band's third single was "Sad Boy Tears", which was released in the summer of 2019. The single "Sad Boy Tears" returned to driving roots, reminiscent of the motives of the alternative year early 2010, and had similar motifs as in the songs of Paramore and other groups of that time. The song is about the relationship between a strong woman and a weaker man. However, this song can be interpreted as a story about a relationship in which one person assumes all responsibility. Although the song did not gain as much popularity as "The Idiot", it still retained the inflammatory energy, chaotically arranged melody, and passion that the band clearly had. 

Given the inflammatory and unrestrained nature of the group, a clear understanding of what the audience wants when going to a rock concert, and drive, honest and open lyrics, it is safe to say that whatever the future, both groups and performers, they will delight us with music that will be able to rekindle the drive in our hearts, which will not leave you for long. 

Not everyone will like Mermaed music, but it is easy to say that they have come a long way from little-known beginners to successful musicians who can safely stand on the same stage with veterans of this genre. The band’s future is currently in question, and most likely, the soloist of the band will continue to give people music as a solo artist under the pseudonym AIRxYEL.
