Kwabena Kwabena

George Kwabena Adu, better known as Kwabena Kwabena, was born in Ghana on October 17, 1978. It is rare to say that a person from an early age was interested in music, but here it really was his first love. Of all the instruments, the young Kwabena liked the guitar the most.

At the age of only 8, he even tried to make his own guitar, the strings for which he made from stretched plastic. Still, he managed to make a 2-string guitar, and although it was more of a game than something serious at the time, he already knew that he would closely link his life with music.

Of course, despite his passion for music, education was simply necessary. His first educational institution was Datus Complex, located in Bubuashie, after which he moved to Achimota, where he studied at Green Hill School. In addition to these institutions, Kwabena also attended Aggrey Junior Secondary School. One of the most favorite educational institutions for Kwabena was St. Peter's Senior High School. It was there that he became interested in many other things besides music, such as sports. Kwabena often played volleyball and football at school and was quite good in them, although he could not get into school teams.

It was at school that his musical talent began to be noticed. This applied not only to the way he played guitar but also primarily to his voice. This voice even allowed him to join the church choir, where he sang for some time. Although the church choir’s performances were not a serious step, they still became training for his voice. At the same time, the guy was increasingly learning to play the guitar. In addition to playing the guitar, Kwabena had another hobby, namely drawing and designing. Kwabena himself has repeatedly said that if he did not have a music career, he could work as a draftsman.

Even after graduating from school, Kwabena did not give up learning to play the guitar. Since he taught himself to play it, it took a long time, but now he is not inferior to professional guitarists. One day his attention was drawn to a recording studio called Hush Hush. At that time (the early 2000s), this studio became increasingly popular in Ghana, and many novice and professional musicians went to it. Kwabena was also interested in this studio and came there many times. Seeing the process of making music from the inside, he was now convinced that he just had to build a music career. Thanks to this decision, Kwabena became much more active in writing his songs, as well as gradually collaborating with other artists, which allowed him to be featured in many of them.

Although these collaborations gave him the necessary musical experience, they did not bring popularity. All this continued until Kwabena met Kontihene, who heard his songs and was confident of the young artist success. Together they recorded a song called "Esi", which later became the first hit in Kwabena's life. Thanks to this song, he was finally noticed, and he had the opportunity to build a solo career. All that was left was to release his first solo album, in which the songs would not be worse than "Esi". Throughout 2004, he actively worked on the songs that will be included in the album, and in late 2004 - early 2005, he released "Aso". Listeners liked his debut album. It contained 9 songs in the traditional Highlife style, most of which were about love. The inflammatory rhythms of the songs made people dance and just enjoy life.

This success secured the beginning of a real musical career and almost guaranteed a second solo album release. Because Kwabena likes to bring the lyrics to their perfect state, the second album took a little longer than the first and was released in 2007. The second album, called Bibini, continued the theme of the first, and most of the songs on it were about love. In fact, the theme of love is found in almost all Kwabena songs to this day. As Kwabena himself has repeatedly said, if people really learned to love each other, the Earth would be a much better place. "Bibini", has just once again confirmed the talent of the artist, and now no one has any doubts that a new star has appeared in the music business.

During this period, Kwabena became more active in sports, which he still does. According to him, if you are in good shape, then you feel much better during performances. Such performances, especially in front of a live audience, require a lot of energy, and physical training helps a lot. After the second album, the number of these same live performances increased significantly, and now there was much less time to write songs. Because of this, Kwabena's third album Kwabena called "Debi", was released in 2011. Despite such a long absence of the album, listeners were delighted with "Debi", and the popularity of Kwabena reached new heights.

Now he had everything he dreamed of: popularity, a career in music, money, and much more, but with all this, of course, comes the downside. Constant attention from the press, the constant feeling that the next album should be even better than the previous one, and attempts to undermine his career did not go unnoticed. All this put a lot of pressure on Kwabena, but his fans’ love and the unquenchable desire to create new music gave him the strength to go further, and in 2013 a new album called "Daakye" was released. The album traditionally had 9 songs. "Daakye" was well received by listeners, although it lost in popularity to previous albums.

After the release of Daakye, Kwabena took a short break and began to devote more time to his own life. Of course, at this time, he did not stop playing music and actively continued to write songs that will be included in his next album, which will be released in 2017.

During this time, he managed to prepare several projects, collaborate with other artists, and do the things he had long wanted to finish. In 2017, his 5th album was released, and to date, the last album called "Ahyesi", which contains 10 songs. Both listeners and critics liked the album and once again proved that Kwabena Kwabena will be on the music scene for a long time.

Today, Kwabena continues to release singles such as "Tokro" and "Voice Note", collaborate with other artists, such as the song "End Time", which he performed with Sarkodie, play sports, and just enjoy life. And we, in turn, as always look forward to his new songs
