Josephina is a 21-year-old singer and songwriter from Virginia Beach, a small town in Virginia, the US. At 17 years old she moved to Los Angeles, CA.
The girl grew up in the family of a Cuban mother and a British father. Even in early childhood, Josephina was into music. Her mother encouraged the daughter's interest in playing the piano, guitar, and singing. When Josephina was like a 5, the mom wanted to try her in the opera classes, and the daughter took them for some period of time. The small girl took so much fun and pleasure with the music. She dreamed of becoming a famous singer when she gets older.
Being a student of a high school, Josephina made a decision to do just one little step to her dream. Never posted on Youtube before, Josephina had forced herself to publish a 6-seconds video in which she sang “Toxic” by Britney Spears. She told herself smth like: “Girl, 6 seconds, it's only 6 seconds. You only can do it”. Suddenly, the video of the young talent had got high activity rates too fast. As Josephina was inspired by these results as well as a previous fascination with YouTube cover artists, she began posting covers on social media too. Josephina performed covers of tracks of such artists like Frank Ocean and Foster the People. Soon, she gained a lot of fans of her work and even earned the attention of several production companies. That’s interesting, Josephina hid the activity on social media from her parents. But when she told them about the invitation for cooperation from the producer, the parents supported Josephina.
Since 17 years old, she has been devoting almost all her time to songwriting and recording tracks. Among the favorite singers that really inspire her are Sia and Billie Holiday. In September 2017, Josephina released her debut song and video “Woosah” which was premiered by Atwood Magazine. The producer Morten “Pilo” Pilegaard helped the girl in writing the song and making an amazing video. By the way, she also re-sang it in the Simlish language for the Sims 4 game. Then she published 4 videos “behind the scenes”(behind the recording of” Woosah” in Simlish) on Youtube. By her words, it was a bit complicated, especially putting the right emphasis.
The 2017 and 2018 years were so productive for Josephina. Did you listen to these amazing songs? "Miles On Miles", "Money on your Mind", "Feelings", "Guilty by Association", - all of those were released in 2018. Each of them is in the self-titled EP, which went out into the world on June 1. The first two tracks were produced by The Stereotypes.
All other songs were produced by Mirror To Mind Records, LLC, including “Daddy issues” and “Dope Girl” which were released after the Josephina EP, but also in 2018. As for the "Pleasure and Pain" track, it was released in 2017, and also was included in the EP.
The young singer attracted not only a lot of fans to her incredible performance, but also a row of media resources and platforms. On the Ceek stage, Josephina sang “Woosah'' and “Dope Girl” songs, and told more about herself. Currently, the artist is strongly inspired by the great work that she'll have to do. On Instagram, Josephina called people to join the action “We Are Human (X)”. She offers to use music as a way to fund cases to help humanity by partnering with some of music’s biggest names and releasing songs with all proceeds being donated to causes around the world.
