The singer Johnny Gates was born on 18 November 1985 in Rhode Island, a US state in New England. When he was 18 years old, his real music career started. The guy always stands out from the crowd by his great vocal skills as well as attractive appearance. Once it played right out in his hand. He was asked to join Runaway Saints primarily because of his "awesome" hair. Runaway Saints was a rock music trio that consisted of Johnny Gates on lead vocals and guitar, Jamie Jarbeau on bass, and Matt Scanlon on drums. The guys formed the band when they were studying in a high school in Warwick, Rhode Island. Then friends managed to go a long way to get success. Their first show was in Providence's living room, where the whole stage was covered with duct tape. After that, the trio moved to Nashville, where they performed and wrote songs a lot. Runaway Saints band became famous after collaborating with Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift) producer. The band hit the first tour with the debut EP with artists such as Moon Taxi, Jonny Lang, and Johnnyswim. After signing with Warner Brothers, the band headed west to Los Angeles. The guys successfully performed in a huge amount of concerts and tours. But after tours with Ryan Cabrera, Rod Stewart, Secondhand Serenade, and others, the band broke up. As a result, Johnny Gates began thinking about solo activity.
In 2017 Johnny made all of the coaches except Adam Levine turned around for him on the blind audition in The Voice 12 Season. Johnny Gates just owned The Voice stage by incredibly singing the positive Rod Stewart’s “Maggie May”. By the way, Runaway Saints opened for Rod Stewart before. For Gates, the Voice had become a boost to development as a solo vocalist. On 30 August 2019, Johnny Gates debuted as a solo vocalist by the release of a self-titled EP to the world. He had been living and performing with the other guys of Runaway Saints in Los Angeles. But for this EP solo project, the artist returned to Nashville in order to get it done. He felt a need to finish something unfinished there when he first arrived in Nashville. This EP is the closest to Johnny as a person as any other work. The man did his best to reveal himself in every single of the EP. For a fact, it consists of four songs such as “Hell Outta Here”, “Dive Bar”, “Church Girl”, and “Bandit”.
Each of these songs combines sonically blended rough and smooth tones. The gentle guitar sounding perfect complements the singer's strong feelings that are expressed in the lyrics. The EP was created in the country genre in combination with light rock features. The videos for the songs also were filmed in a calm, soulful manner. Most EP's fans name its singles as pieces of masterpieces. By the way, right on the Ceek stage, Johnny Gates had performed his two solo singles, “Brooklin Nights" and “So Cool” live. Currently, the singer continues creating new incredible singles. Among his newest works are “Buy You A Beer” and “Loretta Lynn”.
