GYAKIE

Gyakie, whose real name is Jackline Acheampong, was born on December 16, 1999, in Ghana to a family of musicians. Today it is easy to see that her love for music is much stronger than it may seem because she has been surrounded by it since childhood.

As a child, she became interested in various genres of African music. At the age of eight, Jackline and her father went to the studio, where she gradually watched professional music being created.

The performer studied at T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, after which she decided to enter Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to specialize in International Business. While studying there, Gyakie still continued to develop in music, because she knew that it would be connected with her future. Many of the existing performers were inspiring for her, including Nigerian-French singer Asa, the duo R2Bees, and many others. Gyaki almost from the very beginning decided to make her music in African genres because it was in them that she felt the greatest opportunity for self-expression.

Of course, with such a wealth of knowledge as Gyakie, it was not so difficult to enter the music business. The first single called "Love is Pretty" was released in 2019. The mixture of the native language in combination with English, and the theme of true unquestioning love were able to reach the hearts of thousands of people and enter their playlists. This beginning was strong enough to be noticed on a larger scale, but of course, she was not going to stop. Her next song, "Never Like This" once again confirmed that the new artist is able to conquer the music scene in Ghana. In the same year, the artist managed to release another single called "Control". The love and passions became the central theme again and gave her the opportunity to express herself.

2020 was a special year for Gyakie herself because this year she released her first EP "Seed" which contains 5 songs, and the seeds of "Joy and Happiness" (Intro), "Forever", "Whine", "Vacation" and "The Journey” (Outro). All of them brought quite different energy, and well show all the diversity that can bring this talented performer. Gyakie was extremely important to show herself because in this EP she put even more effort than in previous singles. That's why the singer decided not to make songs from the EP in collaboration with other artists. This decision can easily be called the right one today, as all the songs gained their fans and popularized Gyakie all over the country.

Among all the songs from the EP, "Forever" deserves special attention, because the song was so popular with listeners that it even managed to enter the top of the music charts not only in Ghana but even in Nigeria and Kenya. This international success has opened up a lot of new opportunities and ideas for the performer, which she gladly began to use in 2021.

The first in line was a remix of "Forever", but this time with Nigerian singer and producer Omah Lay. Of course, the previous popularity of the song in combination with its new performance was liked by the audience, and even re-entered the various music charts. Not surprisingly, after such success, people were looking forward to new songs from Gyakie, and she knew it. The desire not to disappoint her fans pushed her to work even harder to give them songs that will be something special. Very soon the artist released the single "NEED ME". This song returned to the theme of passionate love and made you feel the soul and R&B genres. To date, this song is one of the most popular in Gyakie's discography and has almost one and a half million plays on Spotify alone.

It is clear to everyone that it's almost impossible to maintain such success, so Gyakie decided to go the other way, which in turn turned out to be much better than even the artist herself thought. Instead of pursuing hype, she decided to create songs that will be interesting primarily for herself. This approach was extremely successful because "Follow You" with chike and Fiokee became another hit. The already familiar theme of love has again become central, which has pleased both existing and new fans. This song, perhaps, made it clear to the singer that in the future she would give songs that would be of interest to her in the first place because such tastes are shared by her fans.

The next song was "Sheege" with D-Black. Although it didn't become so popular, this song once again gave Gyakie the opportunity to work with other talented artists and experiment with his music and performance style. Constant self-improvement and the evolution of the style of performance are extremely important for any artist, and of course, Gyakie is no exception. In each of her songs, especially in recent years, you can constantly see a slight change in style, which remains within the genre and at the same time, each time gives listeners something new.

"Right Here" with Blaq Jerzee became another hit that gave us something more than just another song. Her collaboration with this talented producer brought another hit that makes the body dance with its dynamics and motives. Undoubtedly, such motives in combination with the fascinating music video made it clear that Gyakie is undoubtedly one of those artists who have a huge prospect of becoming a star known throughout the continent. Admittedly, as of early 2022, Gyakie has nearly half a million monthly listeners on Spotify, so in fact, it has already happened.

Also worth mentioning is "I Love You" with Jux, which became the first song released by Gyakie in 2022. This song once again gave her the opportunity to work with another talented artist, and create another combination of styles that will be interesting to listen to anyone.

Looking at this constant and, most importantly, stable progress, it is not difficult to understand that in the future we will have not only new singles but also albums that will give all fans of R&B, soul, highlife, and afrobeat experience they really deserve.

Despite her young age, Gyakie has shown that a true artist will always find a way to show people the results of his work.
