GALECSTASY

Galеcstasy is an American experimental band consisting of Raquel Bell (Vocals, keys, synth, percussion) and Jared Marshall (Drums, synthesizer, percussion, bass, programming). 

This musical group can be easily distinguished from others by many factors. Still, one of the main factors can be called multi-genre music or, as it is popularly called, experimental music. This genre is easy to recognize among others because it is not like any other of them. 

Both members of the band are quite unique. For example, Raquel Bell is an experimental musician and dancer who has participated in many projects, such as Mesiko, Normal Love, and The Dialtones. In 2018, she released her solo project "Swandala". The reason for this, as the singer herself admitted, was the large accumulation of ideas that had not been implemented before. These were ideas that she wanted to implement exactly as she saw them in her head. The fact that the world never saw these ideas forced her to create this project. One of the essential factors of music for her is the tone and texture of the melody. Only when these two factors work in harmony can you get the sound that was intended. 

Jared “Chairy” Marshall is no less interesting. Since childhood, he was fond of drums. He had a strong desire to learn how to play them, but his parents did not buy them because they were too loud and expensive. This forced young Jared to find his first job at the age of 15, and save money to buy drums. He always had a musical ear, which forced him to start writing music himself after a short period. After a while, he realized that in music, he likes to experiment the most and go beyond standard musical norms. As for the current Jared, he is profoundly studying synthesizers. Recently, the center of his musical study has been sound engineering and changing drums. This change happened after a more detailed immersion in jazz, which inspired him. 

The name of the band has a rather interesting and unusual history. Once, the band members asked the cards what their music should be and how the name of the band would be related to it. Surprisingly, they pulled out an ecstasy card. It didn't linger in their heads until Rachel later asked her younger sister what the name of the group should be, and she told Galecstasy almost immediately. They liked this coincidence so much that they decided to name the group that way. 

As you can understand, Galecstasy uses a combination of genres of both artists. For some, it sounds more like music therapy, while for others, it is very strange dance music. This is the essence of the experimental genre. Such music forces everyone to perceive it in their way and to see in it what others cannot see.
