Enrique Iglesias known as a singer and songwriter was born 45 years ago in the heart of Spain - Madrid. His parents were the part of show business too.

His father - Julio Iglesias - famous Spanish singer, while his mom - Isabel Preysler - a journalist and TV host. Enrique was the youngest family member, having also 2 siblings: sister Maria and brother Hulio. At the age of 3 Enrique’s parents Julio and Isabel divorced and his father moved to Miami to continue his singing career and record new songs. Children’s upbringing was the duty of nurse Maria Olivares. In 1985 Enrique and his family were in danger: after threatening his father, terrorists made an assassination on his grandfather. Due to such events, multi-children mother decided to send them to their dad.

In the US Enrique attended Gulliver Preparatory School and was a very shy guy with few friends. Enrique also mentions that his father was rather indifferent to him and his brother and sister.

Since his early childhood, Enrique and his elder brother Julio wanted to be singers. Being a 16 years old teenager Enrique wrote lyrics for his debut album. Despite his son's desires and abilities, the young talent’s father forced him to enter the University of Miami and study at the faculty of business. While having free time at university Enrique recorded demo-versions of his songs and sent them to the famous and not labels as Enrique Martinez. All in all, in 1994 the rebel gave up undergraduate education and signed a contract with the Mexican recording label “FonoMusic ''. The guy did not listen to his father and temporarily moved to Canada. There he spent 5 months creating and recording his debut album. His self-titled album became extremely popular in Spain, Italy and Portugal. There were 1 million copies sold in just one week, which is impressive for an album in Spanish. In 1996 the singer released the same album in Italian and Portuguese as well as many upcoming albums. From the very first album, Enrique received positive acclaims from the critics. It was also nominated for the Grammy Award.

At the beginning of 1997, Iglesias presented his 2nd studio work “Vivir''. At that time his song “Enamorado Por Primera Vez ‘' was actively broadcasted on various radio stations. The song became a true hit - it peaked in Latin American charts in the US for 3 months. The same year Enrique toured 16 countries in support of the album and collaborated with the musicians from Elton John’s, Bruce Springsteen’s and Billy Joel’s teammates. An interesting and quite embarrassing situation happened to Enrique during the American Music Awards ceremony. Both his father and he were nominated for the Best Latin American title. However, Enrique relented and refused to take the victory and let his father do that. Despite such an act of family love Iglesias receives the Best Latin American title in a year, after the release of his 3rd studio album “Cosas del Amor''

The Latin star’s songs were also used in several movies and series. For instance, the song “Nunca Te Olvidaré” served as the soundtrack to the Mexican TV show and the song “Bailamos” to the “Wild, Wild West” action-comedy movie with Will Smith as the lead actor. However the film itself was not that popular as expected, but “Bailamos” was broadcasted on the biggest radio stations all over Latin America. Later on, Enrique released a new version of the beloved song, which was more energetic and with peculiar and very fascinating rhythms. The song was a turning point of his career, it became his first song to achieve the top position in the American charts. On the wave of success, Iglesias got several collaboration offers from significant recording labels.

After signing a contract with Interscope Record label the artist presents the maksi version of “Bailamos” and his debut English studio album “Enrigue”, which was full of interesting vocal collaborations. The song “Could I have This Kiss Forever” with Whitney Houston, “You’re My #1” with Russian pop singer Alsu and the cover version of Bruce Springtin’s “Sad Eyes” were the highlights of the studio work.

At the beginning of the 21st century, a Latin star explored the world with his “Bailamos World Tour” and took a several months hiatus. A comeback was made in 2001 when Enrique released his single “Hero” with Jennifer Love Hewitt. The same year a pop star’s fans met his next studio album in English under the title “Escape”, which appeared to be the most selling album of the singer. 10 million copies were sold in the few weeks after the album’s release. The music video to the lead song “Escape” also got a serious dose of attention, as far as Enrique’s love of his love Anna Kournikova starred in it.

One of the best Latin artists continued to make his audience happy with the release of another Spanish album “Quizás”. In 2003 he presented his 7th album and his father Julio Iglesias his 77th one. 4 years later “Insomniac” got the ball rolling with its hits “Tired of Being Sorry” and “Push”. In 2008 the album was supplemented with the song “Can You Hear Me”, which is the anthem of the UEFA 2008.

Among the awards Enrique Iglesias has got are World Music Awards as The Best selling Latin artist and the most selling Spanish artist; Latin American Music Awards as an Artist of the Year, numerous ASCAP awards, Billboard Latin Music Awards, MTV Music Awards, and many others.
