Celine Dion

A Canadian world famous singer with French and Canadian roots and unique mezzo-soprano voice Celine Marie Claudette Dion was born in 1968 in Quebec, Canada. 

The girl was the 14th and the last child in the family. Her parents tried their best to earn a living for the upbringing of their numerous children. They opened a pub Le Vieux Baril, which became extremely popular among the locals. It was a cozy place with constant performances from Celine’s family members, who sang and played various musical instruments. Several years before the Dions toured Canada, and was fond of music and singing. Celine was not an exception: she sang as well in a family choir under accompaniment on the accordion and violin. Girl’s deep passion for music encouraged her mother to write a song for the young lady. After the song was recorded, Celine’s brother sent it to producer Rene Angeline, who supported French artists. The latter immediately signed a contract with a promising star and committed to taking care of Celine’s promotion and progress. The producer even mortgaged his own house to rustle up some money for Celine’s sponsorship. In a short period of time a teenager was able to become a star thanks to song - “La Voix du bon Dieu”.  
Being an 18 years old Celine has already recorded 9 discs and received a great number of awards. In the second half of the 1980s, the singer signed a contract with a recording company CBS Records Canada. But the real success and worldwide recognition came to Celine Dion after her winning the Eurovision contest in 1988, where she performed a “Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi” single.  

Celine has slightly changed her appearance and image on her way to success and fame: she grew her hair, started making it wavy, and rectified an incorrect occlusion. Suddenly, a misfortune happened to Celine: she had trouble with her cords because of absence of professional training. Only after a month of being silent and lessons with a highly qualified teacher she managed to save her voice and even made it better.  
The next step of self-perfection was related to the mastering of the English language. After spending some time at language school Berlitz, Celine released her debut studio album “Unison” in English with the help of the considerate and enthusiastic support of a musician and arranger, David Foster.  

At the beginning of the 1990s, Celine recorded a title track to the Disney cartoon “Beauty and the Beast”, which was included in her second studio album, which received gold certification in the US along with Grammy and Oscar awards.  
The artist finally toured the US and proved her superstar status. Now everybody who is keen on music knows Celine Dion. She performed an opening act with her single “The Power of the Dream '' during the Olympic games in 1996 in Atlanta and took part in Divas Live concert along with such celebrities as Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Shanaya Twain, etc.  

According to the World Music Awards, the world's best-selling singer was awarded with one more Grammy for the best pop album of the year, “Falling Into You”. During the last few years of the 20th century, Celine managed to sell over 100 million copies of her albums. Such popularity is also connected with her marvelous hit single “My Heart Will Go On” from the “Titanic” movie.  
After a short hiatus, pop diva made a powerful comeback on the stage with the song “A New Day Has Come”, which peaked music charts in 20 countries all over the world.  
The next decade was also productive: Celine releases albums one by one, took part in numerous concerts and sings along with Barbara Streisand, Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli and is the Goodwill Ambassador.  
At the age of 12, Celine met her future husband and producer at the same time, Rene Angeline. At the age of 26, she got married to the love of her life and supported him till the end of his life. He suffered from throat cancer and withstood several surgeries. There are 3 boys: Rene-Charles and twins Eddy and Nelson, born in the marriage. Unfortunately, Rene passed away in 2016, two days before his birthday and left his wife 2 production centers. After the death of her brother, Celine took a hiatus to overcome hard losses.  

Now a pop star continues to make her fans happy by releasing new songs and albums, performing at concerts and being the 4th in the list of the highest-paid stars. Additionally, Celine is one of the best-dressed stars. She often experiments with her style, wearing both risk-taking and elegant looks.
