The band, specializing in the commercial hard-rock was established by singer and songwriter Jon Bon Jovi. His admiration for music started long ago when he was at the tender age of 13.
After finishing school, the guy often appeared in the studio, called “Power Station'', owned by his cousin Tony. This was the place where several demo versions were recorded and sent to various recording companies. It was not a success for Jon, as far as practically no one praised his songs. However his song “Runaway”, which later became a world-famous hit, was played on the radio. That was the exact time Jon Bon Jovi decided to make up a band. During the 1950s a hard-rock band was gathered and formed, consisting of keyboardist David Bryan, guitarist Richie Sambora, drummer Tico Torres, bassist Alec John Such and Jon Bon Jovi himself. Later on, in the hot summer of 1983, guys signed a contract with a Polygram company and took part in several big concerts, such as “ZZ TOP'' in the Madison Square Garden, New York, USA.
The band’s debut self-titled album got a gold certification in a short period of time, while 5 talented and handsome musicians, singers and songwriters were touring all over America and Europe, performing cheek to cheek with numerous superstars, such as Scorpions, Whitesnake or Kiss.
In a year Bon Jovi released their second studio album under the title “7800° Fahrenheit”. Unfortunately, the album did not receive so many positive acclaims from the critics as the first one. Having understood and analyzed the reason for their misfortune, Bon Jovi members had decided to quit performing singles from the second album and invited the poet, writing songs - Desmond Child to help them with creating the third studio album. The hard rock band gained a great benefit from such a fruitful collaboration: starring in several thrillers “Wanted Dead or Alive”, “You Give Love A Bad Name” and others stirred up the public interest in Bon Jovi and helped their 3rd studio album “Slippery When Wet” gain multi-platinum certifications and sales. When the tour came to an end, the band immediately appeared in the recording studio, aiming to prove that they are worthy and have serious plans and intentions for the future. The following album “New Jersey”, which was released two years later, was positively met by the audience. Moreover, 5 accompanying singles: “Bad Medicine”, “I’ll Be There For You”, “Born To Be My Baby”, “Lay Your Hands on Me” and “Living in Sin” obtained top positions in charts.
Another tour drove a wedge between Jon and Richi, thus Bon Jovi activity was temporarily stopped. Happily for the band’s fans, after a few years of solo career male stars made a powerful and surprising comeback with their 5th album “Keep the Faith''.
Filled with grunge elements, the album gained love from fans and positive feedback from critics. “Bed of Roses”, “Keep the Faith” and “In These Arms” singles hit top 40 of the US, but even greater popularity awaited the band in the Old World -Europe.
2 years after the compilation album “Cross Road” was released with several new songs included, such as “Always”, which became a well-known hit. The same year Hugh McDonald replaced Alec John Such and the refreshed Bon Jovi band released one more album- “These Days”, which, of course, also gained platinum certifications and was followed by a several year band’s hiatus.
Studio album “Crush” in its turn appeared to be among top 10 national ones and peaked British hit parade correspondingly. The main and most important reason for such a success is the band’s world-famous hit “It’s my life”.
In a year, that is in 2002 Bon Jovi released a new album - “Bounce”, with 12 singles in it: “Everyday”, “Misunderstood”, “All About Lovin’ You”, “Hook Me Up” etc. Though it was not as popular as the previous ones.
Bon Jovi really returned and made their success even bigger with the studio album “Have a Nice Day”, which peaked at a plenty of hit parades all over the world. But the “Lost Highway” album really surprised everyone and took the highest place on the Billboard chart
